Magical Maldives…

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

We have just had our first experience of the Maldives and I felt I just had to share it with everyone!! What a fantastic place!! We stayed at the Club Faru in North Male Atoll and how beautiful it was. White beaches, turquoise blue sea, swaying palm trees…..just like you see in the films!! We arrived and our luggage was taken straightpage-128_xtaah-2-160x1601 to our room for us and was there before we were! Our room was large and clean with fabulous sea views. The service over the whole two weeks was excellent, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our rep Zita was always on hand when we needed her and was extremely helpful and our room was cleaned with fresh towels every day. We managed to dine on our own every night but at some tables  couples were having to sit with other couples that they didn’t know, not that I am anti-social but we enjoyed the privacy, plenty of time to get to know people over drinks afterwards, and we did meet some lovely people. The snorkeling was out of this world with manta rays and puffer fish swimming right beside you. We did the dolphin excursion and were lucky enough to see some, although I have done the same trips in Spain and even Wales, but something about the surroundings made this one so much better…Overall an excellent totally relaxing holiday and I would definitely recommend the Club Faru to anyone.

Capivating Kerala

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

A week in Kerala is not long enough to relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings as we found out. Kerala is so lush and green with beautiful waterside villages. We’ve been to Goa before and found it to be intimidating at times but Kerala is so different and the locals are so friendly and helpful. The beaches are so beautiful throughout Kerala with Chowara Beach being one of my  favourites due to its long white sandy beach and amazing views over the Ocean and its also home to the Ayurvedic resorts which you must visit for total relaxation.

Me and my husband indulged in a full body massage in one of the resorts which was pure bliss. We also went on an organised trip to the backwaters of Kerala which was such a fantastic experience and a must do for any visitor. The village restaurants have such mouthwatering cuisines and the fresh fish is to die for. We where really shocked at how cheap the food in the restaurants are and everybody makes you feel so welcome. Kerala was such an amazing holiday and i only regret that we did have longer there as there so much more to see and do. Hopefully we’ll go back next year for 2 weeks.

Perfect holiday to the Maldives

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Id always wanted to visit the Maldives and stay in a water bungalow and my amazing husband made my dream come true by booking the Sun Island Resort on South Ari Atoll for June 2008. Where do i start is was truly amazing from start to finish.  The weather was perfect, just what we needed after all the rain in England. The sea plane to the resort had some of the most breathtaking views over the island that will stay with me forever. It felt liked we’d been taken to paradise is was so beautiful the photos in the brochures and internet really don’t do it any justice.  Our water bungalow was just amazing with wooden floors and the biggest bed ever. We had a large balcony over the sea with steps leading down into the water, it was pure bliss being able to snorkel any time we wanted. The water was so warm and clear and exceeded our expectations. There was hundreds of colourful fish if only we’d known what they where called and the coral reef was beautiful. We saw some of the most amazing sunsets that we have ever witnessed.

The white sandy beach was so soft it felt like you where walking on cotton wool. We walked around the whole island in about an hour and it is truly stunning with plenty of secluded hideaways. The staff where very helpful and polite and we couldn’t fault them one bit. The food was truly mouth watering with plenty of selection it was a good job that we went snorkeling every day or we could of easily put on weight. We only went on a few excursions but the best one had to be the reef explorer just after breakfast we headed out on the boat trip, half an hour later we dropped anchor and dived into the sea to be surrounded by thousands is tropical fish unfazed by our presence.  We had the best holiday ever, it was like being on our own paradise island and cant wait to return.
